FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- Can we buy a shelter of a particular size, shape and color?
Universal Shelters provides virtually any size & shape (gable or dome) in many colors.
- Can I modify or reconfigure your standard product?
We will tailor our product to best meet your specific requirements.
- Is the cover UV resistant and flame retardant?
Our cover materials are UV protected, and meet Flame Retardant specifications both in Canada (tested to CAN/ULC - 109-M) and in the USA (tested to NFPA 701 & California standards)
- Does the steel come with rust protection?
All steel used in the construction of Universal Shelter Systems is structural grade and either double-layer Galvalume or triple-layer FloCoat coated, providing the best available protection against rust.
- Do you have anchors for my ground surface conditions?
Engineered anchoring systems are available for any ground condition.
- How do you compare with conventional buildings?
Universal Shelters cost less than conventional buildings but meet the same loading and structural requirements.
- Do we require building permit, pay property tax or get a P.E. certified engineering drawing?
These shelters are considered temporary and don't usually require a building permit, nor will they increase your property taxes. However, if required , P.E. Certification and Flame rating information is available on request at an additional cost.
- Do you have any features that are included at no extra cost?
Yes, we do!
- Anchoring systems to attach shelter to local ground condition are designated to withstand high winds
- Purlins to reinforce and brace the frame
- Steel inserts in fabric pockets with ratchet straps provide a reliable tensioning system that ensures our cover fits like a glove
- Sidewalls have additional fabric flaps for placing under, or strapping to, the frame, securing with sandbags, or burying in soil
